Steve Patterson appointed Langford Board Chair

Steve Patterson was appointed Board Chair at the Langford Annual General Meeting held on Monday 16 December.

Steve replaces Langford Life Member Ross Doddridge, who has retired after a 30-year contribution to Langford.

Incoming Board Chair Steve has been a member of the Langford Board since 2005 and has been the Quality, Risk & Compliance Subcommittee Chair. He understands our organisation, our values and our commitment to the participants and young people we support.

Steve has twenty years’ experience as a police officer and prosecutor in Tasmania, as well as working as a justice advisor and advocate for the Porgera Disabled Persons Association in the Papua New Guinea Highlands.

Steve has championed human rights and the role of problem-solving courts in the formal justice system and brings skills to the board in the areas of governance, risk management, and social justice.

“It’s an honour to be appointed Chair of the Langford Board. I’m looking forward to working with the Board and staff to embed the Langford Wellbeing Wheel as a framework for goal setting and planning, and to continue our strategic focus on quality improvement across the organisation,” said Steve.

Langford thanks outgoing Board Chair Ross for his long-term commitment to Langford. Ross joined the Langford Board in 1994 and was appointed Board Chair in 2000. During his time as Board Chair, Langford grew from an organisation with 40 employees and an annual turnover of $600k, to a team of 200+ employees in 2024. He also led Langford through one of the most significant changes in the Australian disability sector, the introduction of the NDIS in 2013.

Langford also thanks outgoing board members Annabelle Hanke and Reece Munnings for their time and dedication during their time on the Langford Board.

In the weeks leading up to the trip, Dylan was supported by his Langford team to research where to go on Bruny Island, find suitable accommodation, and get packed and ready for the trip.
