Breaking ground on quality SDA homes

Today marks the culmination of over a year’s planning by Langford with the signing of construction contracts for two purpose-built Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) units. The units located at Charleston Place in Glenorchy will be built to the highest standard (‘Robust’) under SDA guidelines.

The property will be the new home for two current Langford participants and has been designed with their complex support needs in-mind. Facilities will include full staff amenities to accommodate live-in support and will provide modern features for comfort, accessibility, and quality of life for participants.

The contract marks the start of a major property upgrade strategy for Langford.

“While there is considerable unmet demand for this type of housing in the Hobart Region, we have prioritised current participants in our initial accommodation upgrades,” said Nick Connor, Langford CEO.

“Further announcements will soon be made on new accommodation options for current and new participants, reflecting our ongoing commitment to provide high-quality supports.”

Construction is expected to be complete later this year and ready for participants to move-in soon after.
