Our Values
Our Values are Innovative, True, and Committed.
Our Vision
“Exceeding Expectations”
The vision statement of our new three-year Strategic Plan is Exceeding Expectations. This vision is made meaningful in our everyday activities such as providing direct supports for participants. It is our ambition to exceed the expectations of all stakeholder groups that we work with; participants, families, other guardians, allied healthcare professionals, and our partners from other disability sector organisations.
Our Purpose
“Partnering Together to Achieve Your Aspirations“
Our Strategic Plan defines our team purpose as Partnering Together to Achieve Your Aspirations. This represents our commitment to working collaboratively with participants and their broader support networks to ensure we are providing the highest quality supports, designed to help participants achieve their specific personal goals and NDIS goals.
History
Langford was established in 1976 by a group of like-minded individuals who were aware of the lack of community-based services outside of the traditional mental health system. John Langford and members of the community founded the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association and established a hostel for people in the city to receive support and care. It was a place to live, to regain skills, and develop a sense of belonging and hope. John Langford continued vigilantly with his work in community supports until his passing in January of 2022.
The vision of founder John Langford and the first manager Margaret Nielsen to meet the needs of individuals who are vulnerable in our community set a path for Langford that we remain committed to today. Over the last 45 years, increased focus has been placed on meeting individual participant needs, ensuring that John Langford’s original vision of supporting people to create a safe home and to be active and engaged members of their community is maintained.
