Playing a beat at City Hall

The Ability to Create exhibition returned to Hobart this year with artists from all around the region exploring the theme of ‘Connect and Reimagine’. Cancelled in 2020 due to the pandemic, the relaunch of Ability to Create yesterday was abuzz with excitement from group and individual exhibitors who were keen to present their visual, musical, and theatrical artworks.

Artworks from Langford participants are featured prominently in the event including our ‘Harmony Tree’ (pictured above) as the centerpiece of City Hall.

Photographer and artist Adam Knowles commented on the turnout of people from throughout the Hobart community.

“There’s a lot of really good artists here today,” he said.

They made the most of this opportunity to share their passion for music with a crowd of likeminded art enthusiasts, and they had a great time performing on the day.

The LCDC meets regularly at the Community Hub in Lenah Valley to play together with drums and chimes, developing skills in physical coordination and teamwork in a fun and accessible environment.

The LCDC is just one of a diverse range of new and redeveloped programs on offer at the Community Hub:
