Keeping In The Swing Of Things
How Routine, Support and Community Keep Ben on the Course
For almost 20 years, Ben has been part of the Langford Support Services community… And in all that time, his love of golf has stayed the same.
Ben first picked up a golf club as a teenager, and he hasn’t stopped since.
Today, he plays regularly with Support Worker Ben M, usually at his local course. The pair often head out in the morning, planning their round the day before and adjusting when the weather calls for it. If the course is full, they make their way to the driving range instead.

Golf is more than just a hobby for Ben.
“It’s good exercise, relaxing… I love it,” he said.
Ben’s played at courses across southern Tasmania, from Rosny and New Norfolk to Baghdad and Tea Tree. He’s had great moments, like his first birdie, and plenty of challenges including the “worst weather possible” and the occasional wayward first hole at Claremont.
What has kept him going is consistency, his drive to improve, and the steady support of his team over many years.
Support Worker Ben M says it’s rewarding to watch Ben stay committed to something he enjoys: “On hot days we play in the morning and stick to the shade. Ben just keeps showing up,” he said.
At Langford, we believe that great supports make room for things that bring people joy: whether that’s golf, gardening, music or anything in between.
If you’re looking for Community Access in Hobart or southern Tasmania, and want support that helps you stay connected to your interests, goals, and community, we’d love to talk with you.
